AROUND 10,000 music lovers descended on a Dales village for an open-air concert featuring one of the world’s best known orchestras.

Compered by the celebrated lyricist Sir Tim Rice, the Halle Orchestra Concert at Giggleswick School, on Saturday, also featured renowned soloists Sir Thomas Allen (baritone), Sarah Fox (soprano) and Barry Banks (tenor).

The concert - held to celebrate Giggleswick School’s 500th year - was the Halle’s first public open air concert in the Dales.

It also featured the school’s junior choristers as well as the Giggleswick Choir. The musical extravaganza concluded with a spectacular firework finale set to the 1812 Overture.

Really humbling to read the comments we're finding all over of the audience's opinion of our firework display. Great that as a local company we were given the opportunity to be able to fire at such an important event and it seems we managed to provide a memorable finale!
