POLICE have named the 75-year-old victim of a fatal road traffic accident on a busy North Yorkshire road.
Frances Jeffrey, from Whitewell Bottom in Rossendale, was killed during the incident on the A65 at Giggleswick, at 11.20am on Friday.
An inquest into her death will be opened and adjourned later this week in Skipton.
Police said Mrs Jeffrey was a rear-seat passenger in a silver Renault Megane Scenic which was in a collision with a silver Land Rover Discovery.
The 42-year-old male driver of the Land Rover Discovery and the other occupants of the Megane Scenic, two men and two women, received treatment for minor injuries at Airedale Hospital near Keighley.
The Megane Scenic was travelling along the A65 towards Cumbria when the collision occurred with the Discovery, which had approached the A65 from Settle on Station Road.
The driver of the Discovery, a 42-year-old man from Giggleswick, has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody.
