CRAVEN District Council plans to build new homes in the centre of Ingleton have been turned down - by Craven district councillors.
The authority had wanted to develop a plot of land it owns on Burnmoor Crescent and replace 17 garages with four houses.
However, at a meeting on Monday, a planning committee sided with objectors and refused the scheme, which could have helped to ease housing shortages.
The plans, which had prompted concerns among Ingleton parish councillors and led to 11 letters of opposition, were refused on the grounds that they could lead to on-street parking.
