RESIDENTS in a Dales village face weeks of disruption while a culvert is rebuilt.
Trees Farm Lane, Westhouse near Ingleton, is due to be closed while the work is carried out and the project is expected to take six weeks.
Diversions will be via narrow, winding country lanes.
This week residents and parish councillors met senior members of North Yorkshire County Council Highways and Jacobs Civil Engineers at the site of the road closure.
After discussing the anxieties of local people, it was made clear that there were no possible half-measures and the scheme would go ahead as planned.
During the work, there will be no access to Smithy Lane from Lower Westhouse and every event in the village is expected to be affected.
The parish council has already postponed its film night on Friday November 13, when the award-winning Slumdog Millionaire was to be screened.
It will now be shown in the new year.
