ORGANISERS battled torrential showers in preparation for this year’s Ingleton Carnival and were rewarded with a rain-free event.
Batala Lancaster provided a rousing samba drumming rhythm for the parade participants and onlookers. They also provided displays in the main ring and a workshop for those interested in learning more about their skills and perhaps wanting to join the group.
The Gala Queen, Georgia Tazzyman and her entourage looked resplendent. It was clear to see the amount of work that had gone into putting their beautifully decorated float together.
Very well received were the bike displays provided by the Trials Display team of Ben Slinger and Danny Butler. Ben and Dan have been British, European and World champions in their sport, and as well as exhibiting tremendous skill and accuracy their commentary was informative and entertaining.
The mountain race to the top of Ingleborough and back was won by Lloyd Taggart, of Manx FR, who won in a time of 48-04, over three minutes ahead of Wharfedale’s Mark McGoldrick. Settle’s Matthew Fretwell was first local in 57-54 and first lady was Hallamshire;s Lizzie Adams (54-11).
