Hopefully these 2 bikers will think again next time they are out thrill seeking on OUR roads. The speed limit where this took place is 40MPH not 60-70MPH!! To quote one witness "they took off from the lights like a bat out of hell"
Maybe they would also like to think about how close they came to hurting/killing the 4 week old baby in the back of the car.

Hopefully people like you will think before spouting your silly drivel in the future. The pillion has no control over the bike movements and the rider was overtaking - the idea of overtaking is to get passed the obstruction as quickly as you can and that almost by necessity involves a turn of speed. If the driver of the turning vehicle didn't want to hurt or kill the 4wk old baby, then perhaps good observations (including rearward) would have prudent prior to making a directional change. The speed is almost irrelevant here, the onus of a safe driver is to NOT move into the path of another moving vehicle. With the help of the highway code and a mirror, this collision would have been avoided. Suppose you've never done anything naughty on the roads, have you? It reads as though you wanted the injuries etc. You're very hateful, please send me your name and address, I'd love to discuss this matter personally.

Your roads? How does that work exactly - do you know for a fact that the bike wasn't taxed and therefore illegally on the road? You weren't there, so have no idea about the circumstances of the accident, however you seem comfortable apportioning 100% of the blame onto the rider. Your username is more than enough to tell me everything I need to know about you. Narrow minded and unpleasant..

I was there, although I did not see it happen. I heard it and was at the scene within 2 minutes. i also talked to an eye witness. It not very nice seeing a young mother covered in blood, clutching a very young baby.
I also did not say the bike was illegally on the road. but was being ridden in the usual RECKLESS manner.
I refer to OUR roads as im local and we have to put up with this every weekend when the sun is out, hoards of biking idiots terrorising our roads.
Grow up, if you want to race your "NINJA 10,000" race bike, find a bloody race track and dont do it on OUR roads.

I'm fed up with idiot car drivers in their hot-hatches (unrelated to this). I'm fed up with drivers on their mobile phones. I'm fed up with drink-drivers. I'm fed up with women drivers who apply make-up on the move. I'm even fed up with Sunday drivers.
But I don't put all drivers in the same camp - you seem to imply that ALL bikers are terrorising YOUR roads on their Ninja 10,000's. You are therefore coming across as a bigot and an idiot. I do over 10,000 miles a year on bikes and the same again in a car so I see it both ways. Am I a dirty biker who speeds everywhere or a considerate car driver victim of these mindless two-wheel warriors? I'm neither. It's you who should grow up and accept there are mistakes, misjudgments and mis-deeds in all walks of life. Are all Scousers thieves in your little world? Are all Muslims terrorists?

What exactly did happen, when I went on the same road on the same day there were traffic lights working near the Garage.
All traffic was going slowly, that day I was in my car, not on my bike.
By the way fedup withBikers, which road do you own?

As a local biker, I have to say that there are a 'small' minority of, particularly sports bike riders who let the side down. Just sit on the wall at Devil's Bridge on any weekend sunny afternoon and hear the testosterone waft about the place. The reason why some bikes are called 'cafe racers' doesn't need a rocket scientist to work out. Some bikers will time their ride between Devil's Bridge, Hawes and then back via Ingleton. Its a fact, and those local bikers who deny it are fooling themselves and everyone else. Whether this accident was caused by the bike or the car hopefully will come out in court, Its not for anyone here to cast blame. The sooner that a 50 mph limit is slapped on our local roads where bikers frequent, the better. I have a high powered machine and, it wouldn't bother me one jot. If I want to ride my bike at 125 mph, I'll simply attend a track day, like many other bikers.

Stop overtaking on solid white lines. Stop tailgating cars. Stop breaking the speed limit. Stop parking on pavements. Stop bleating on about how its the cars that are at fault. Stop assuming you can do what you **** well like. Stop all that and I might have some sympathy.

I think everyone is forgetting that the two motorcyclists were seriously injured and our thoughts should be that they make a speedy recovery.

So they should not have rode so recklessly then. Be honest, how many times have you seen a motorbike going too fast, too dangerously or too close to other vehicles. they do not have a god given right to overtake, weave through slow moving traffic or generally do whatever they please. Just a few days ago I drove around a blind corner with stationary traffic on the other side only to be confronted by a motorbike coming down my side of the road, had I not slammed my brakes on we would have collided. Would that have been my fault? was he one of the supposed minority? No, he was just your usual biker who thinks he can do what he **** well wants.

Sorry, my mistake. Every single car driver is a perfect motorist, who never breaks any laws, and every single biker is a moron who rides like a lunatic all the time. Stupid of me to attempt to offer a balanced and reasonable response, when you already know everything you need to know about road safety.

Whoa calm down I'm not saying that some motorcyclist don't act badly on the road...some do. Some old people drive badly, some young people drive badly, even I drive badly.
I just think it's terrible that people think that because they were on a bike then they deserve to be nearly killed,
because they were on a bike...sod it let em die...Some of you are a bloody disgrace!

Wow! Some people really don't like bikers! Those with negative comments just pause for a minute and think, if it was your son/daughter/mother/
father/other relative or friend on the bike, would you still be so negative? Would you probably shift the blame? It was a terrible "accident" where people were injured. Try "thinking" about what you're going to write before you actually write it. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be too happy if someone started slating someone you know!

This is a circular argument. I thought for a minute you were describing car drivers. Car drivers do all that. And a great number of them of all ages and walks of life. How many drivers do you see on the phone while moving? How many car drivers tail-gate you? Sit up, take notice - more bikers behave on the road than car drivers because it takes far more concentration to safely navigate the roads. Okay, some don't safely navigate the roads but the same can be said for car drivers, bus drivers and the like. Just watch Road Wars or something.

An oft recurring error in the forum software, judging by the number of repeated posts on the Gazette pages!
I have even had them myself, and reported posts to the moderators, in the hope that they might be able to get to the bottom of it!

Hmm the fact that you were there, EVEN though you did not see it, somehow imparts to you magical deductive powers that enable you to describe exactly what happened without the need to witness the scene.

You should offer your services to the Cumbria Constabulary accident investigation department - they could do with your help.

Hopefully the eye witness who filled in the gaps in your mystical powers, will be blessed with photographic recall, and an ability to recount an impartial account to the police when the time comes.
