OVER the next week the BBC is celebrating astronomy and the night sky with its Stargazing Live programmes. We're (Eddington Astronomical Society) supporting the series by holding several astronomy events here in Kendal, which must be the astronomy capital of Cumbria by now, surely?
On January 7, our monthly society meeting will be a ‘beginners night, open to everyone. Come along to the museum at 7pm for an introductory talk about Stargazing. From 7pm on January 9, we're holding a Skywatch up at Kendal Castle (weather permitting), showing people some of the winter sky's most beautiful sights. And on the evening of January 11, there'll be a special illustrated talk at The Box, also in Kendal, offering a Tourist Guide To The Universe.
All these events are free and family friendly, so come along and make friends with the night sky!
