Regarding the new railway timetable which came into force last weekend, I would like to alert rail passenger readers to a significant change.

On Fridays from December 13, the 17:06 from Windermere will no longer operate to Manchester, indeed it will terminate at Oxenholme.

From the middle of February the same train will terminate at Oxenholme for the rest of the week as well.

There is an implication for commuters returning to Lancaster. There will be no connection or service available from Oxenholme to access Lancaster between the 16:00 and the 18:02 from Windermere.

This disenfranchises passengers, including season ticket holders.
