On Thursday, December 19, at 10am (for 10.30am) the planning committee of South Lakeland District Council is holding a public meeting, at the Victoria Hall in Grange, to resolve a contentious planning application for Berry Bank at Kents Bank.
There has been a huge raft of objections and discussions, commencing last February at the first consultation.
Forty-two new, unsuitable houses in this treasured green-belt vicinity, bringing with it commensurate traffic and parking issues on Allithwaite Road and Carter Road, along with significant surface-water drainage anf flooding implications, may be the first step on the way to the progressive degradation of Grange, Kents Bank and the villages of the Cartmel peninsula.
May I ask you to recommend all concerned residents to attend this crucial planning meeting?
Despite this land having been 'allocated' for housing within the Inspector's much-criticised recent report, 'allocation' (despite rumours to the contrary) does not give developers an inalienable right to impose detrimental building on significant green spaces - nor on many other similar sites throughout South Lakeland.
