I am trying to locate relatives of Chief Officer P. McParland, who used to live in Keith Street, Barrow- in-Furness in the 1940s.
He was one of only four survivors, when his ship the 'Bay Fisher' was sunk by enemy aircraft on February 7, 1941, near the Bell Rock Lighthouse.
Chief Officer McParland made a survivor’s report about the sinking and his subsequent rescue.
My grandfather John Todd was the Master of the ship, who was killed that day along with six other crew members and a DEMS gunner.
The photograph above is of the ship Bay Fisher, registered at Barrow by J Fisher & Sons Ltd.
