You recently reported how a man had to be airlifted from the beach at Baycliff, near Ulverston.
I am the person concerned. My wife and daughter took me to the Fisherman’s Arms on my 78th birthday. We had an excellent meal and then walked over to the beach, where I just collapsed.
They could not get an ambulance to me there so I was airlifted to Furness General Hospital.
I spent three days in hospital and have now fully recovered. It is not known what caused me to collapse.
I would like to thank all who helped me, especially the paramedics, the air ambulance crew and all other medical personnel and several local people, who witnessed the incident who were very helpful at the time.
