I am writing to you in the hope that you can raise awareness to the plight of many disabled adults who attend Windmill day services at the Day Centre on Dowker's Lane in Kendal, of whom my own daughter is one.

Over recent months the outdoor garden area overlooking the river has been frequented in the evenings and vandalised, causing the denial and pleasure of day use.

The fence has been broken and the only bench they have has been pulled out of the ground.

Most mornings the staff have to clean up glass and cigarette ends from the area. The council say they cannot do anything, the police are going to increase patrols in the area but the best outcome is for it not to happen in the first place.

I plead to those who seek a dry area to hang out, to give a little respect for others and maybe to any local residents to keep an eye on the area when passing. This pastime has a huge impact on the pleasures that a small outdoor oasis can give to the adults who attend during the day.
