Nowadays it is so clearly noticeable that the conduct of those elected to represent the people is placed under close scrutiny, as we have seen recently with the attention paid to the new Labour leader and the issue as to whether or not he bowed correctly at the Cenotaph.

Such is the style of today's journalism. It is, however, sad and predictable that one of your correspondents should cast aspersions with regard to Tim Farron's attendance at the Cenotaph rather than here in his constituency. (Letters, November 12, 'MP at London').

Clearly the writer is unaware it is customary for party leaders to attend the Whitehall ceremony and Tim Farron is after all now his party's leader, however small their numbers.

Rather than question the integrity of a man who has shown total commitment to his position as our MP perhaps Mr Froggatt should reflect of the meaning of the ceremony, rather than see it as an opportunity for political point scoring.
