A recent survey on the proposed 20mph speed limit produced a response from approximately two per cent of the Kendal population (663 people, I believe). From that response, just over one per cent of the Kendal population voted for a 20mph speed limit.
How can one per cent support be a mandate for change?
If the town council pushes through their proposal on the basis of one per cent support, this is no better than an authoritarian dictatorship. Where is the democracy?
The people have not spoken. They have barely whispered. The population of Kendal has not voted for change. Whoever is wasting my council tax pursuing this matter, would they please stop now?
