The roads in Kendal are in urgent need of repair and over the next few weeks repairs to some of these roads are going to take place. The question that has to be asked "Is there ever a good time for these repairs to take place?" and the answer is no. There is always going to be disruption and frustration when these repairs take place. However, Kendal and the Lakes have a very bad reputation for heavy congested traffic along with high car parking charges. Surely and especially after the devastating floods in December, the powers that be with a bit of hindsight and common sense could have scheduled these repairs before Easter and when the new tourist season start? Should we not be doing all we can to encourage people to come to Kendal and the Lakes and not scare them away with even more traffic queues while work is being carried out?
And just another thought, get rid of some of the traffic lights around the town, especially the one in Kirkland. There are simply far too many which slow up traffic. The whole system needs reviewing.
