THERE are many reasons to consider oneself fortunate to live in Ambleside. At this time of the year we have the joy of the Christmas Lights, having had a wonderful day, as always, on the third Saturday in November when Father Christmas came to lead the Lantern Procession and switch the lights on.
Each year the decorations get better and better and days of work go into checking and putting up the existing lights and adding to their number. The small, dedicated committee and their helpers undertake this labour of love in all weathers with cheerful good humour under the leadership of Chairman, Andrew Hewitt.
I am sure I speak on behalf of many who live here and the thousands who will visit over the Christmas period when I say a heartfelt ‘ thank you’ to Andrew and all those involved.
Ambleside would be a darker and sadder place without the Christmas Lights – God bless you all!
