I WOULD like to endorse the proposal to change the use of the car park as the current arrangement is a hazard to pedestrians.
When the footbridge is in operation there is no proper footway to the pedestrian crossing. Parents/grandparents with children and older people generally are at risk either walking on the road or dodging vehicles entering or leaving the car park.
Indeed while the fair is present there is often inadequate pedestrian access from the footbridge to the crossing and the situation is worse.
Regarding car parking, for commuters there is at the moment a much-underused car park at Kendal Snowsports Club, which is available Monday-Friday during the day.
Regarding the fair, if this is moved to Goosehome the heavy vehicles should be obliged to board out the access and parking area. The area has been used before and the soft ground took an inordinate length of time to recover from the vehicle damage.
