I would like to bring the public's attention to an incident that happened on Sunday, January 28, on Milnthorpe Road at Kendal between 6.15pm and 7pm.

I had been visiting my very sick friend. There were also an emergency out of hours doctor and two other friends there.

I left just before 6.15pm and between then and 7pm someone came along and scratched two cars and the doctor's vehicle with a blunt instrument, taking the paint down to the metal work.

I hope this letter may prick the culprit's conscience so they come forward and accept responsibility - or that it will at least deter them from such cowardly acts in the future.

The damage to all cars is significant and I know that at least one of them has had to have both doors fully repainted.

My friend, who has heart failure, needs the reassurance of mind of knowing that doctors', nurses' and friends' cars are safe to be parked outside her house.

How sad it is that people would resort to such depths of vandalising other people's property - not caring about the effect this has on other individuals.
