DO YOU want to be the person who enables someone with sight loss to walk into 2018 with confidence? At Guide Dogs, we believe no one with sight loss should be left out of life, and by being a volunteer sighted guide you can help us make this a reality in the New Year.

Can you spare the equivalent of just a couple of hours a week (some of our volunteers and service users go out for a day once a month or half a day once a fortnight) to accompany someone to do something they enjoy or want to do?

Harriet lives in Wigton, and loves a trip to the local swimming pool. She would like a sighted guide to enable her to get out and about more so she can go swimming and so she can shop at her leisure. Harriet also enjoys social outings where she can get to meet new people.

Having a sighted buddy would be a great start to 2018. She says: “It would great to have somebody to take me out, somebody to talk to and do activities.”

Harriet is just one of a number of people with sight loss who would like to meet their volunteer sighted buddy in the New Year. A couple of hours will make a massive difference to someone in 2018 and help ensure they are not left out of life. So please make it one of your resolutions to get in touch and find out more about this flexible, sociable and rewarding volunteer role.
