Primary school children between the ages of 6-11 participated in Netherfield Cricket Club's junior taster sessions at Kendal Leisure Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

The session saw a large number of youngsters take part in a range of different cricket activities.

Netherfield’s aims for the sessions are to give children a gentle but fun introduction into cricket, while the club also hope to recruit some of the participants into their thriving junior set up.

The club want to create a conveyor belt of talented young cricketers to train and practice with the long term aim of breaking into the 1st and 2nd team.

However, the main purpose is to give aspiring youngsters an opportunity to play at whatever level in which they feel comfortable with.

Netherfield will be running the ECBS All Stars Cricket initiative for the second season.

Last season Netherfield had over 50 children take part in the initiative, while 20 have already signed up for this year’s course.

Netherfield’s junior section train once a week throughout the summer and play games at U11, U13 and U15 and beyond juniors at U19.
