THANK you for publishing my letter about my father, Harry Baines, and his six brothers, who were brought up at Burneside and each of which served in World War 11 (Letters< March 8, 'All brothers survived the war'). I was hoping someone could help me trace a photograph of the seven.

Three cousins, whom I have never met, and a friend of the family have been in touch and photographs have been sent to me.

It appears that I had conflated two pictures in my mind. The one above shows the seven brothers at 2 Burneside Road during the 1940s (my father is the one in the uniform).

There was a further photograph published in The Westmoreland Gazette on June 5, 1943, which showed five of the brothers in uniform. It appears that two of the brothers were too young to join the services before then but joined up later.

It has been wonderful connecting with my Kendal family again after all these years, and it is difficult to express my thanks adequately in a letter of this nature.
