On Good Friday I set off for work at my usual time, arrived at the multi-storey car park at Kendal to park my car, only to find it didn't open till 9.30am. Why? Does the council not realise that for a lot of people who work there is no such thing as a Bank Holiday?

I then had the hassle and frustration of trying to find somewhere else to park and still get to work on time. I ended up on the car park on Library Road and realised that it was going to cost me £8 to park my car for the day, instead of the £1 at the multi-storey when I get there before 9am.

It's time the council and buses worked with the people and businesses of the town especially when Bank Holidays occur and Easter is officially the start of the new season.

Not every one can walk, whether its due to ill health or they simply live too far out of town.

At the start of my shift at 8.30am there were a lot of shops open, people shopping and holiday makers out, so having the multi-storey car park shut until 9.30am was just silly with so many people needing to use it.

Maybe it was the council's cunning way to get more money out of us by paying for a full day's parking instead of letting us in before 9am to get the 'early bird ticket'. If so, their plan worked not only from me but from lots of other people too, who for whatever reason, had to come in to Kendal before 9.30am.

We should be doing all we can to help people get to and around Kendal. So let's make buses easier to use (they were not running on Good Friday) and parking more available and at reasonable prices, otherwise people will just stop coming.
