I READ with some dismay a small report (Gazette, April 12, 'K Village office'( regarding a company submitting plans to convert two empty units in the centre into office space.

Now this is in no way aimed at any particular company, but is this now the fate of K Village - to be turned into office space - when this should have been a thriving retail outlet, enticing visitors from out of the area to Kendal to spend money and appreciate the development and discover the town, especially when the pavements to and through Kirkland were widened for this.

Also, after quite a number of the shops had closed, I recall an article regards removing the 'outlet village' designation from K Village, thus allowing 'proper' shops to open in the centre and not just 'outlets', and that this would let a higher number of prospective retailers show an interest in the centre, but since then nothing more has been heard or seen.

The previous incarnations of K Village were always busy, with several coachloads of people visiting most days. The current version is now nothing more than a ghost town, an expensive ghost town!
