I AM writing to praise all the marvellous volunteers, who came to my rescue on Wednesday, April 18, when I slipped and broke my ankle on the flanks of Silverhowe, Grasmere.
It happened suddenly on wet terrain and in a very difficult area for rescue.
From 'phoning the Mountain Rescue to my placement in the land ambulance at Ambleside Mountain Rescue base, they worked with professional care, respect and kindness in very difficult circumstances.
My message to the team is: you are all a credit to the wonderful job you do, we are very lucky to have such dedicated people working tirelessly to help injured people in difficult circumstances. Keep up the good work.
I would also like to extend my thanks to the members of the Land Ambulance crew for their care during my journey to hospital.
