I WAS delighted to see Jane Hoyle's letter about the iniquities of our voting system in the recent local elections (Letters, May 31, 'Thanks for your support'). The Tories, apparently, got fewer seats than they deserved, based on total votes counted.
I assume, therefore, that she is equally incensed by the fact that, at the general election, the Tories polled 13.7m votes, while Labour, Scottish Nationalists and the Liberal Democrats polled 16.3m. Let's not forget the Democratic Unionists, who polled 0.3m and, by some electoral miracle, kept the Tories in power.
I would encourage Jane Hoyle to continue her campaign for true democracy
