Tuesday nights 1-0 win over Guiseley earned Kendal £7,500 and a place in the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup.
It wasn’t the best performance of the season, but it was a demonstration of the never say die attitude which has been instilled within the 1st team squad.
David Newne's was the hero saving a last minute penalty, proving that he is the best keeper in the league.
The win mean’s Kendal travel to Nuneaton in a fortnight where they will be fighting for a place in the 1st round proper which would be a fantastic achievement for a club of Kendal’s size.
Nuneaton will have something to say about it and it will be a tough game, but Kendal always rise for the big challenge and it won’t get much bigger than next weekend.
In the meantime Kendal will be hoping to go on a cup run in the FA Trophy, Starting off with an away match at the weekend down at Leek Town.
Leek used to be in the Unibond Premier a couple of season’s a go and Kendal have struggled against them in the past. Leek currently sit 3rd in the Unibond South league after a strong start to the season.
The opening day of the 2007-2008 season Kendal lost 2-1 at home to Leek and later lost 5-0 at Leek in the latter end of that season.
With the cup success comes the lack of league matches and Kendal are down to 7th without having played a league match for a few weeks.
However with a bit of luck, Kendal can make up for lost time in 2 weeks when they get back to the league at Durham.
But for now the Cups the top priority as Kendal hunt for further success this weekend.
