It’s been a difficult few week’s for everyone that is involved or cares about Kendal Town FC. The ongoing big freeze and snowy conditions have led to one postponement after another, I think it must be 4 week’s since the team last had a competitive match.

It’s a no brainer to say this bad weather will be having an impact on the club’s finances, and with more bad weather forecast for the next few week’s thing’s aren’t going to be getting better anytime soon.

Infact the Kendal Town forum has a thread asking supporter’s, and football fan’s alike if they have any thought’s on the situation and also if theirs anything the fan’s can do to help the club along in these testing time’s. So far their have been some good idea’s, such as holding event’s and ticketing ideas which would massively help the club. These times show how much a supporter, support’s the club and people are coming out with idea’s which will hopefully help the club through.

I personally can’t see their being any football till February, and that’s being cautiously optimistic! Too make matters worse; we also heard that manager Lee Ashcroft was given a 3 month ban by the FA. This ban means he wouldn’t be allowed to have any involvement in any footballing matters. He wouldn’t even be allowed to go to any of Kendal’s home or away matches in that period.

The club have obviously opted to make an appeal over the situation and in the short term Ashy can carry on managing the team until things are sorted out. However it takes 14 days to make an appeal and 21 days after that 14 days until an appeal date has been set. so it could be some time before this matter is resolved.

In the short term it’s good that he can carry on managing the club, however whilst this ban hangs over him and the club, what happens for the latter part of the season is in the lap of the god’s.

From my own point of view as a fan, the whole situation is concerning. I find this type of suspension very harsh and also very unfair. To effectively stop someone from working in football for 3 month’s (which is what they are doing) is wrong in my opinion I just hope that the club can successfully appeal this and we can get back to concentrating on the football. We do however need a game, and this Saturdays match at Worksop is doubtful which would make it 5 week’s without a match! We are handily placed in the league and all the other sides are suffering the same fate, so it’s really a case of sitting tight for now!

The next few weeks and month’s will be interesting for all involved with Kendal Town Football Club!
