Kendal Wattsfield's ladies continued their fine run of form with an impressive 2-0 home victory against Abbeytown.

With both teams not having played for a few weeks, it took them time to adapt to the playing conditions.

However once Kendal Wattsfield settled into their usual passing game they began to create chances.

Jo Thompson had several opportunities to put KW ahead but weak shots made it easier for the Abbeytown ‘keeper. However, Abbeytown always looked dangerous on the counter attack and Nikita Morton reacted tremendously to save from close range keeping the scores level at half time.

Dominating the match more in the second period, KW’s shooting was initially wayward, but when Becca Knowles broke through, on the hour mark, she calmly passed the ball into the goal for a deserved lead.

Abbeytown became more adventurous and were unlucky not to equalise when a shot from the edge of the box bounced back off the post into Nikita’s hands.

It looked as if one goal might be enough, but in the 82nd minute Michelle Raven crossed to the unmarked Faye Armstrong at the back post and KW wrapped up all three points.

This was an excellent performance from all in KW’s squad and showed that they have plenty of strength in depth.
