WHAT a week we’ve had. It started with Ravenstonedale Show where we got reserve champion with a five shear ewe – shear meaning how many times she has been clipped.
It was then Hawkshead Show where we got champion Rough Fell with the same five shear ewe before we went to Selside and Grayrigg Show and won champion Rough Fell with a tup lamb.
As well as all this, my husband Brian has been helping our mate Whit to dip his mule shearlings ready to sell at Kendal Auction Mart on Saturday. It was well worth it as Whit treated us to a lovely meal with friends.
We have mown some grass ready to round bail. Our friend Richard bails it and then a wrapping machine is used to wrap each bail with a strong cover to make them airtight so they last all winter.
On Sunday we said we were having the day off, so what did we do? We went to Greenlands Farm at Carnforth. It was brilliant; I recommend you go if only to watch the sheep race.
