WE HAVE taken advantage of a warm and dry spell and spread our pasture fields with fertiliser.

This helps to kick-start the grass growing for the milk cows to go out and graze.

We’re also still on with lambing at the moment as they are being very slow. I was hoping they would have finished before we started our spring cultivation work.

I also had an interesting night out last week. We got invited to an evening about the Ford New Holland tractors, which was organised by Brian Hoggarth.

We learned all sorts of interesting facts but, more importantly, we got fed like kings. It always tastes better when you’re not paying for it!

We’re also on with milk recording this week so fingers crossed it all goes well.

We’ve also been cleaning out the ditches, which is always a very rewarding job.

This is because when we have finished the water level drops a good six to seven inches.

It is wonderful to see the land drains running to their full potential.
