WELL it’s all go at the moment!

We’ve just done our annual bovine TB test and passed it without any problems which is a huge relief to say the least.

Judith Lee from Westmorland Veterniary Group has been over for our routine fertility visit which we do every fortnight.

It is extremely important because when we run bulls with our milk cows, sometimes we don’t always see the cow is coming ‘on heat’, but the bull always seems to find the cows that show no sign of heat, so its important that we scan our cows regularly to keep our records up to date and catch any cows that aren’t coming a bulling and need some help.

We had a new addition to the family this week - my sister Sarah and husband Philip Slater have had a little baby boy so it want be long until we have Archie Philip Slater in the parlour showing him the ropes!

We’ve also got some fat lambs ready for next week so lets hope there a good trade. We just milk recorded this week and the cows are milking very well which is wonderful. The milk cows are still inside at night but if the weather does pick up we might let them out on a night to graze. All of the milk cows are out through the day at grass but get fed silage when they come in at night.
