It was a quiet afternoon of action in The Westmorland Football League after a lot of players from different teams within the league were called up to play for The Westmorland FA Under 18 squad who faced Cheshire at the Pye Motors Stadium in Kendal.

The Under 18s who are managed by Kendal Town chairman George Gudgeon picked up an impressive 1-0 win over a strong Cheshire FA side.

Westmorland deserved their win and created many chances during the game before a goal midway through the second half by Kendal United player Bailey Kenny sealed a big win. Westmorland had to see the game out with ten men after one of their players was sent off in the second half.

Cheshire piled on the pressure during the closing stages however the Under 18s defended well as they collected their first win of the season in the ANC Youth League. The Under 18s have still got games to play against Lancashire and Cumberland.

Keswick continued their dominance in Westmorland League Division One after a hard fought 3-1 win at Ambleside United. Richard Bannister scored a brace while a Declan Robinson header sealed the win that sees the league leaders go five points clear at the top.

In the other games, Wetheriggs United moved up to ninth in the table after a 5-0 win at Burneside, Niall Renwick scored a brace, while Ben Pool, Andy Mills and Greg Key rounded off a dominant display.

Nicholas Holden scored the only goal as Kirkoswald picked up a narrow 1-0 win at Windermere, while Penrith Reserves picked up a 2-1 win at Ibis. Haydon Wilson and Ryan Graham on target for Penrith who are now 8th in the league.

Shap went top of Westmorland League Division Two after a comprehensive 5-0 win at Staveley United. The goals were shared out with Dan Anderson, Jordan Palmer, Luke Fraser, Jordan Turner and George Cresswell all on the score sheet.

Hat tricks by Macauley Forsyth and Lamin Cham eased Castletown United to a 7-1 win at Wetherigg United Reserves.

Kendal United Reserves picked up a 3-1 win at Keswick Reserves, Matt Kennedy, Jordan Archer Nelson and Sam Hunter with the important goals.

Carleton Banks picked up a 5-1 win at Eden Thistle, Langwathby United defeated Braithwaite 7-3, while Dent claimed a 3-1 home win over Greystoke,

In Westmorland League Division Three AFC Carlisle remained at the top after a 4-3 win over Sedbergh Wanderer Reserves. Appleby Reserves picked up an emphatic 4-1 win over Kirkoswald Reserves, Penrith Royal routed Penrith Saints 8-2, while Penrith Academy picked up a narrow 2-1 home win over Ibis Reserve.
