Overnight rain saw plenty of Westmorland and Benevolent Trophy games postponed, on what proved to be a wet and miserable Saturday afternoon of action.

The Benevolent Trophy entered into the quarter final stages with Keswick progressing to the semi finals after a hard fought 3-1 win at Ibis. Keswick had to work for the win and were ahead through Tom Atkinson, however John Edmondson brought the hosts level midway through the first half.

Keswick though proved too strong and raced into a 3-1 lead in the second half with two further strikes from Atkinson.

Appleby had a more convincing afternoon as they surged into the semi-finals with a 9-0 home win over Burneside. Hat tricks by Jordan Crawford and Daniel Robinson, before Charlie Addison Adams, Dan Rob and Matt Branthwaite completed the rout.

Ambleside United from Division One are also in the semi finals following a dramatic 4-3 win over Division Three leaders AFC Carlisle.

AFC Carlisle opened the scoring through Jack Crowther when he tapped in a long throw by Wayne Jackson. Ambleside responded and surged into a 2-1 lead when Harry Clark and Tom Lassey scored. In the second half the weather conditions worsened, before Crowther scored his second with just two minutes left as his goal sent the game into extra time.

Ambleside prevailed when Izak Muzingi and Luke Rowden put the Division One strugglers 4-2 up, before Crowther completed his hat trick as he scored a consolation goal for AFC Carlisle.

In the final Trophy game, Wetherigg United picked up a 7-1 win over Milnthorpe Corinthian Reserves, Niall Renwick with four goals in a convincing display by the hosts.

Only one game survived in Westmorland League Division One as Kirkoswald battled to a 2-0 home win over Kendal County Reserves. Callum Evans and Rob Whitton on target,

Shap pulled two points clear at the top of Division Two after a 5-1 home win over Langwathby United. Luke Frazer scored a brace, before goals by Tom Alderson, Jordan Turner and Jordan Palmer rounded off a good display.

Castletown United and Braithwaite were involved in a crazy game as both sides drew 6-6, while Keswick Reserves picked up a 2-0 win over Wetherigg United Reserves. Carleton Banks rounded off the action with a 2-1 home win over Dent.

In Westmorland League Division Three Appleby Reserves picked up a 3-2 win at Burneside Reserves, Ambleside Town and Endmoor KGR Reserves battled out a 3-3 draw, Kirkoswald Reserves won 6-3 at Ambleside United Reserves.

Connor Shield's hat trick helped Penrith Academy to a 5-2 win over Penrith Saints, while Penrith Town defeated Penrith Royal 4-1. The goals were scored by Harry Finney,Josh Davies,Tom Watson and Liam Byrne.
