Kendal Ladies Second Team picked up a moral boosting win as they defeated Carlisle 1-0 at the Cinder Ovens Playing Surface on Saturday afternoon.

There was very little to separate both teams in the first half, however Kendal had numerous opportunities to score through Rebecca Tarney and Jo Elleray.

Carlisle's best chance came through Rebecca Townsend who saw her shot saved by the keeper.

However Kendal gained belief as the game went on and opened the scoring midway through the second half when Rebecca Tarney slotted the ball past the Carlisle keeper. Tarney made the most of a well worked attack down the right hand side as Carlisle were caught off guard.

With Kendal desperate to hold onto the lead they began to play a more counter attacking game, while solid work in defence and midfield kept the visitors at bay.

Carlisle continued to probe with Townsend and Molly Hayton creating the best opportunities for the visitors.

Kendal though held on to register a much needed win as they travel to play Keswick on Saturday.

*Kendal Ladies firsts picked up a 3-1 win at Neston last Thursday night. Kendal fell behind before Vicky Whalley Jones equalised. They went in front through Nicola Conway who picked up a good pass by Kate Froggatt before Conway sealed the win with the third goal late on.

Kendal firsts play two games this weekend as they travel to Whitley bay on Saturday before hosting Didsbury on Sunday.
