Victoria A edged two points clear at the top of Division One of The Kendal and District Bowling league after an emphatic 9-1 home win over King Arms Hales A.

Martin Gilpin got the first points on the board after a comfortable 21-9 victory over David Kent. Ian Nicholson and Matthew Simpson edged Victoria A closer to victory following hard fought 21-19 and 21-20 wins over Joyce Foxcroft and Billy Thornton.

Victoria’s Ira Collier, Keith Atkinson and Simon Brown picked up wins over Billy Caldwell, Mike Procter and Derek Bell. Jonothan Cooper collected the most impressive win following the 21-2 rout over Stan Robinson.

Holme A remained two points behind the leaders following a hard fought 7-3 win at Burneside A. In the other games, Netherfield A defeated Windermere A 8-2, Staveley A picked up a 7-3 win over Lindale A, Levens A routed Bowness A 9-1, while Holme B collected a crucial 8-2 victory over Burton A.

In Division Two, Netherfield B hold an 11-point advantage at the top after seeing off Subscription A 7-3, Victoria B were held to a 5-5 draw at Lower Holker A, Ambleside A edged out Levens B 6-4, Kirkby Lonsdale B defeated Netherfield C 8-2, while Lindale B rounded off the action with a comfortable 9-1 home win over Allithwaite A.

Ambleside B picked up a surprise 7-3 win against Division Three leaders Arnside A. There were also wins for Hawkshead, Victoria C, Sedbergh, Ingleborough A and Windermere B.

Division Four remained competitive after Windermere C battled out a 5-5 draw with Burneside B, while Langdale defeated Kings Arms Hales B 7-3, Allithwaite C and Subscription B drew 5-5, Bowness B saw off Milnthorpe B 8-2, Allithwaite B defeated Endmoor A 7-3, while Netherfield D whitewashed Lower Holker B 10-0.

Arnside B climbed nine points clear at the top of Division Five after a crucial 9-1 win against second-placed Victoria D.

Lindale D picked up a 7-3 win over Heversham B, Crosthwaite B battled past Lindale C 6-4, while both Staveley B and Kirkby Lonsdale B were also 6-4 winners with wins over Endmoor B and Abbot Hall B.

In Division Six, Staveley C, Subscription C,Allithwaite D,Windermere D and Holme D all picked up crucial results, whiles Milnthorpe C and Bowness C drew 5-5.
