HOLME A and Victoria A continue to set the early pace in Division One of The Kendal and District Bowling League.

Victoria, who were runners up to Holme last season, climbed to the top of the league after a dominant 10-0 win at Netherfield B in an impressive performance at Parkside Road.

Keith Atkinson defeated Netherfield’s Roger Townsend 21-17, while Martin Gilpin routed Jonathan Nicholson 21-5.

Ian Nicholson saw off Tony Dixon 21-9, before Jonathan Cooper, Alan Gilpin, Ira Collier and Matthew Simpson eased past Hazel Borradaile, Rod Holmes, Don Kennedy and Keith Robinson.

In the final game, Chris Wyatt defeated Barbara Aikman 21-1.

Elsewhere, Holme A won 6-4 at Bowness A, Levens A beat Victoria B 10-0, Kings Arms Hale A edged out Holme B 6-4, Windermere A saw off Netherfield A 7-3, while Lindale A won by the same score against Burneside A.

Burton A edged one point clear at the top of Division Two after an 8-2 win at Kirkby Lonsdale A. Burton B defeated Arnside A 6-4, Ambleside A eased past Staveley A 8-2, Crosthwaite A defeated Windermere B 7-3, while Allithwaite A saw off Netherfield C 8-2.

In Division Three, there were wins for Abbot Hall A, Sedbergh, Milnthorpe A, Levens B, Ambleside B and Windermere C.

Netherfield D went top of Division Four after they defeated Subscription B 8-2, Abbot Hall B despatched of Arnside B 7-3, Kings Arms Hales B won 6-4 at Levens C, while Bowness B won by the same score with victory over Hawkshead.

Langdale and Allithwaite C both picked up 7-3 wins over Allithwaite B and Endmoor A respectively.

In Division Five, Victoria D, Lindale D, Endmoor B, Lower Holker B, Kirkby Lonsdale B and Crosthwaite B all won their respective games.
