I took this photograph of helium balloons that I collected from a barbed wire fence on top of the fells dividing Longsleddale and Bannisdale, close to Capplebarrow.
I can only assume that the group releasing these balloons, and having a few moments of joy, gave no thought to the suffering of the animals that could have attempted to eat them.
There is no point arguing that fell animals should not attempt to eat these items as their IQ is only marginally higher than the party animals that release them on to the fells.
The remains are awaiting collection.
