Bank Holiday Monday saw members of the CRO (the Clapham-based cave rescue organisation) carrying out its annual extreme litter pick at the Waterfalls Walk in Ingleton.

The weather was excellent for it this year, and we collected more than 15 bin bags of rubbish, mostly cans and bottles that had been thrown off the path into normally inaccessible places for the walk employees to reach when they are litter picking.

It always amazes us that people still feel it is OK to throw litter into such a picturesque environment.

The techniques used were the same as used for climbing and caving, usually abseiling down to the litter and climbing the rope to get back to the path.

The CRO is grateful to the Waterfalls Company for helping with our funds, by topping up the money we collect on the day from the display trailer parked for the day in the Falls Car Park.
