I read your report and saw the photographs of the Hawkshead Show (Gazette, August 20, 'Bumper crowd ensures village show plays all the right notes') which gave one a flavour of the show, which I was unable to attend.
However, I would ask that you call Shetlands 'ponies' and not 'horses'.
Ponies are distinct from horses and as a rough guide are under 14.2 hands high, the exception being 'polo ponies' or Icelandic 'horses'.
Most small children would ride ponies and we are proud of our native breeds, including our local fell ponies.
I love your paper and read it every week.
