The Podium article in the Westmorland Gazette on August 27 by Dr David Mervin, headed 'Wars represent tragedy on a monumental scale', is the best yet!
His article remembering the terrible circumstances of WWI is full of compassion, questioning and deep feeling in wondering how he would have acted then.
We should all think deeply, as Dr Mervin obviously has, about all the aspects of that war, and world conflicts in general, and how we should act in the future.
