As a teenager my father Andy passed his test and bought his very first bike, a Triumph Trident T150, after saving for a long time. As an aspiring engineer he spent hours in his father’s garage making new parts for the bike and making sure it was in tip-top condition.

At 19 he was lucky enough to get a place at Trent Polytechnic (now Nottingham Trent University) to study engineering. He took his beloved bike with him, enjoying the freedom and new places to ride. He even took my mother on it during their first date.

Unfortunately when he reached his second year of study he was offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to gain work experience at a company in Boston, USA. With such an exciting opportunity also came vast expense and he had to sell his motorbike in order to pay for the trip.

He went on to finish his degree and work for major companies such as Westland Helicopters, BMW and Rover. He is now nearing his 30th year at Jaguar Land Rover in the Midlands.

Ever since he sold it, my father has been constantly searching for his bike, hoping it will one day be on sale again. Only a few years ago an image of it appeared on a website for a parts shop. This restored his faith, with the knowledge that the bike was still around.

On October 3 my father turns 60. As a family we have been searching high and low for this motorbike hoping we can reunite them. The latest piece of information we found was it was in Kendal.

If anyone knows where the bike is we would love them to get in touch by email at jessica.northfield@ntu.ac.uk Even if the owner doesn’t want to sell it, maybe letting my dad visit and see the bike would be enough?

The bike's number plate is HEW 37N.
