I would like to say a big thank you to all the folk who came to our concert at the Ambleside Parish Centre in support of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation. Although the final sums have yet to be balanced out it seems that people raised in the order of £1,250 for the charity.

Being able to raise money for the Rosemere Foundation meant a lot to me personally and it was by the people being there, enjoying the pie and peas, having a drink or two and laughing a little that achieved it.

Also, of course, a great debt of thanks to Ambleside Kirkstone Rotary, who did all the organising for us. They did everything from advertising, ticket sales to pie peas, bar and putting out, and away, tables and chairs.

It is only when you visit the Rosemere Cancer Centre in Preston that you realise just how many people in north Lancashire and south Cumbria are affected by the big C and what a wonderful team they have there.

We should all get behind Tim Farron as he pushes to be able to get them to create more services at our fine Kendal hospital. It's quite a drag down the M6 mobile car park to Preston from South Cumbria and some folk do it every day for treatment for a month or two.
