It is unbelievable that the A591 will be closed for three months, particularly with the tourist season approaching..
The Royal Engineers have bridge-building capacity with Bailey Bridges. A temporary bridge could be laid across the road in less than 24 hours if the will was there.
Alternatively the road could be excavated on the west side to create a single track road. Again this could be done in a short space of time.
The question is if a main road such as the M1 suffered this problem would it be closed for three months? I think not.
