As a town councillor who assisted in the flood relief advice, I must pay tribute to the outstanding generosity of Kendalians who offered assistance to victims ranging from donations of bedding and clothing, to their free use of Land Rovers to aid removal of damaged household items.
Another example is a small personal matter I wish to mention. I am a head and neck cancer patient which affects my mobility. The other day I lost my balance in my front garden and fell down the steps, bashing my head on the pavement.
Immediately a motorist turned her car around to ensure I was alright. I was OK - you've got to expect a few knocks and bruises in today's society!
It was very kind of her. I have no idea who she was.
