On Easter Sunday I suggested to my mother that we go to Glenridding and Ullswater to support the area after the floods.
We went via Kirkstone Pass and dropped into the valley, parking at Aira Force. We were gobsmacked to find that parking for less than two hours was £5. Really?
I understand that this is a National Trust car park and that the money goes back into the area but, come on, £5? What a joke!
And judging by the amount of gasps from other people as they queued up to get their ticket we were not the only ones who thought this was too much.
After the devastating floods, the Powers That Be, whoever they are, should be doing all they can to encourage people to go to areas like Kendal, Grasmere and Glenridding/Ullswater and silly car parking charges like these just ain't doing it!
Let's have a bit of common sense please, especially now that the new season is upon us and do all we can to get this beautiful area back on its feet.
