I find it preposterous that lynx are considered being re-introduced to the Lake District (Gazette, March 31, 'Lynx plan sparks farm fears').
As your front page report highlighted, it is not just the animals that would be taken, it is the stress caused to flocks that lynx in the vicinity would cause.
What about dogs walking in Grizedale Forest? What would the anticipated threat be to them?
Having lived in Canada for a number of years in an urban location we had coyotes that were a threat to pets and dogs were recommended always to be on a lead. This was always a concern when out walking my dogs.
I am sure a similar threat from lynx in the Lake District would not help our valued tourism.
