I read the Podium article about the 'overgrown' Lake District National Park (Gazette, May 19). I noticed this a few years ago in Scotland when travelling by coach on a coach holiday.

It was such a shame we couldn't see the views from the coach when travelling because of all the trees on the roadsides. All the views were obscured by trees.

The main place in the Lakes which I have noticed, among others, is along the A590 at Newby Bridge. We used to be able to see the beautiful Swan Hotel from the road but now all we can see are trees!

It's a shame because when we used to come up here from Manchester we loved that view of The Swan.

I do wish trees on roadsides could be culled and I certainly agree with Tommy Coulthard in his Podium. Please cut some trees in our beautiful countryside and give us back our views.
