The NHS has fully supported and cared for me the last six months. Now I wish to say a huge thank you to all concerned and that I appreciate the stress and demanding schedules everyone is under.

Three heart attacks on, two separate weeks in Lancaster. 12 days in Blackpool and four weeks in Boarbank Nursing Home following major heart surgery, I am indeed fortunate to have a new life ahead of me.

It’s the dedication, caring and kindness from so many that stands out and which have turned this experience, from what could have been a nightmare, into a blessing of gratitude.

From the first responders, ambulance men (several times), doctors, nurses, the surgeon and his team, carers (many working 13 hours a day), Elaine, the wonderful cleaner at Lancaster – all have given so much to me.

And then all those cheering Get Well cards, the prayerful support from Arnside Methodist and friends, and, not least my wonderful family (is it not worse for them?) – all have contributed to my wellbeing and recovery.

NHS – thank you.
