I FOUND the Podium article by Matthew Connolly, on a timely moderate revolution, very thought-provoking (and amusing).

For some years I have been enjoying my visits to the hairdressers, as much for the informal chat about current happenings, (and ‘putting the world to rights’) as for the morale-boosting skill of the hairdresser.

Some months ago, I remarked to my hairdresser that if all the salons in Ulverston also provided an opportunity to discuss things important to us, there are signs of a ‘revolution’ brewing!

I have long puzzled over the fact that in Ulverston there is now only one actual butcher’s shop, one greengrocer’s shop, but 20 hairdressing salons. The idea of (possibly!) revolutionary discussions taking place at salons around the town could be the explanation.

As always, Shelbourn’s cartoon the same week hit the nail on the head about the general dismay at the thought of yet another election to be given serious thought about. The lady, Brenda, who expressed the same dismay on TV was astonished at the huge number of people who felt the same way.

But, although not previously a supporter of Theresa May’s party, I can understand her aim to get more convincing support for a more advantageous and speedier outcome of the negotiations with the E.U.
