WE would like to say an enormous thank you to the doctors and staff of St Mary’s Surgery at Windermere, Westmorland, Furness and Burnley General Hospitals and our local district nurses for the excellent care John has received over the past six months.
Most of the initial tests and scans were done very quickly over the peak Christmas and New Year period of the winter. Yes, there were quite long delays at some clinics but we were always kept informed and reassured and a Sunday morning visit to a consultant served to confirm that delays were due to the sheer number of patients.
Subsequent transfers between hospitals and specialities in all directions were achieved with little in the way of problems. These commenced with being marched into the A&E department of Furness Hospital by a delightful but very concerned radiologist who was determined we should not escape to go home after a CT scan!
This was typical of the kindness and care we received throughout the whole experience.
So thank you again to all concerned and to everyone reading this please be reassured that our NHS is very much alive and working its socks off to keep us safe and healthy. We have at all times been treated with the utmost courtesy, kindness and professionalism by people who felt like caring friends and we are truly grateful.
